How to Increase Scoring Chances

A few years ago I was hired to train a local All-Star team. The coach was looking for ways to inspire the kids and get them to play to their highest potential.

After two weeks of putting them through my strength, endurance, and confidence building training sessions they were starting to play very well together.

At the next tournament we were firing on all cylinders and made it to the semi-final match. From the very first whistle the players were playing inspired soccer. Winning almost every ball. Boosting each others confidence.

At half time the score was 0-0 but we were clearly dominating.

With 3 minutes left to go in the game we were defending a 2v2. The attacker pressed forward – zig - zagging the ball using hypnotizing dribbling skills.

About 10 yards from the goal she quickly touched the ball to the left. Our defender took the bait. The attacker planted, pushed the ball to the right and accelerated into space.

Our defender stumbled as the attacker fired a rocket low and in the corner.

It was perfect execution of a crucial attacking skill. I was excited to see the skill. Disappointed it was used against us.

But it was a great lesson for my team.

They saw how important it was to practice offensive skills and to be able to defend against them too.

Anyone who learns and masters this skill will dramatically increase their scoring chances. It has all the right pieces of the puzzle.

· Ball control

· Hypnotize the defense

· Create space by accelerating

· Strike the ball crisply in the corner

To learn this skill you need to do hundreds of repetitions. To master this skill you need to learn how to connect the mind and body together. Members of my Dynamic Soccer Player training experience this mind body connection during every training session.

They experience first hand the natural way to blend the mental game into the physical game. That way they get the maximum results on the field in the shortest time possible.

Some of the side effects of this type of training are more focus, explosiveness, and better control with the ball.

Whether you’re 9, 12, or 16 if you do have the right training system you can unlock your highest potential.

All the best,

Coach Nolan
